Vector arcade graphics of 1979 to 1985: Atari's XY monitors steered the electron beam along each line instead of scanning rows. Battlezone, November 1980, was a wireframe tank battle with a periscope, a green film over the lower four fifths of the tube and a red one over the top fifth.
The beam drew lines directly, so lines were cheap and fills impossible, and brightness came from how long the beam dwelt, which puts a hot spot at every vertex. Nobody removed hidden lines, so models are see-through. The colour was a physical overlay, not anything the hardware rendered.
Every edge of the rig, hidden ones included, plus the glasses, smile and collar, is stroked twice: a thin glowing line with shadowBlur and a wider faint one for halation. Part corners get hot-spot dots. The strokes are clipped twice, green below the split and red above it. The score and radar use the three-by-five font drawn as strokes.
